INTO THE VOID
a dystopian dance theatre piece
Physical interaction between people has atrophied and disappeared. Self-chosen isolation is the new reality, one's own four walls are self-created cells of loneliness. Digital, infinite, easy availability of all necessities of life made personal communication superfluous. An invisible fog has crept into people's minds over the past years and led to emotional deadening.
A permanent rattle of drones fills day and night. A hyperactive network of technological transport lights up the streets while people squat in their cubes and forget about the outside.
An unexpected power outrage brings together two strangers who venture outside - and unfortunately despair of each other in complete miscommunication and lack of empathy. However, a spark of memory settles in one of them and leads to a desperate act where movement becomes a new way of communication.
